Too often, patients begin treatment for complicated illnesses or injuries without a clear-cut diagnostic basis for that treatment. At IAS, we believe that effective treatment follows a more accurate diagnosis.
Our thorough evaluations usually include an examination by a physician or mental health professional, and an extensive history-taking and clinical interview by specialists trained in these activities. Often, the exam and interviews are supplemented by objective, reliable tests, as required by the presenting symptomology, including, but not limited to radiographic tests, neuropsychological and psychological tests, echo-cardiograms, blood and urine tests, and other measures of the objective reality of the patient.
Once the diagnoses are determined, treatment by the best qualified treating specialists is arranged as quickly as possible. Our primary areas for treatment include brain-related disorders, complex pain disorders, or disorders brought about by psychological trauma. Our primary specialists include neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, physiatrists, psychiatrists and psychologists.
Referrals to professionals in other specialty fields, or who are more geographically or financially suited to a patient’s needs are also frequently provided. We also provide treatment recommendations to a patient’s treating specialists, for those patients who come to IAS for a second opinion and a possible alternative treatment plan.
